A versatile artist and musician, Alyssa Staron, mezzo-soprano, began her musical training in piano and later pursued classical voice.  At 22, she made her professional soloist debut with the Maine Music Society and has since successfully collaborated with various individual musicians, opera companies and groups because of her unique vocal quality, professionalism and musicianship.  

She has had the privilege of working under the baton of assistant Metropolitan Opera conductor, Joshua Green, as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) with the New York Summer Opera Scenes in Manhatten, and performed the role of the Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) this past season with the Tuscia Operafestival in Viterbo, Italy.  Along with traditional roles, Alyssa has also been a part of new opera productions, creating the roles of Nancy in Dennis Hyams’ world premiere of The Golden Arrow and Helena in Michael Dutka’s opera Midsummer, based on Shakespeare’s play A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Alyssa performs numerous recitals and concerts to promote the art song and chamber music repertoire to audiences in the local communities.  She is also an experienced soloist for civil and religious weddings, memorial services and other private events.  Her work in sacred and religious music and as a cantor for the Roman Catholic liturgy has given her the experience, knowledge and repertoire required for nuptial masses and other religious ceremonies for various denominations.

As part of her musical training, Alyssa participated at the Spoleto Vocal Arts Symposium in Italy studying with renown coaches Nico and Carol Castel, and Enza Ferrari. At the Mozarteum Music Conservatory in Salzburg, Austria, she concentrated on the vocal repertoire of Mozart and German lied with Edda Moser.  Alyssa currently studies with lyric soprano, Evelyn Mandac and is a former student of coloratura soprano, Deborah Cook.
